During the life of your Decent e-scooter, damages caused by accidents and wear and tear can mean that the throttle on your scooter may need to be replaced. Thankfully, this is far from a strenuous task and can usually be completed in a number of minutes. The following guide should have all the necessary details for this repair, however, if you have nay further queries, please submit a ticket below and one of our customer service agents will be with you shortly.
How do I change the throttle?
Step One: Please remove the right-hand side handle bar from your electric scooter. This will make the throttle mechanisms accessible for yourself. The sleeve from the throttle can now also be removed.
Step Two: Underneath the throttle trigger should be two holes with the left hand one containing an M3 screw. Please remove this screw. If this screw cannot be removed, the side panel may need to be removed along with the rest of the outer shell. With all of these parts removed, the screw should be more accessible. After this has been accomplished, please remove the throttle and the sleeve that is to the left of the throttle.
Step Three: To access the connector required, the throttle cable and connector will need to pulled through the handlebars. A pair of pliers may be quite useful during this step. The best method which we have found is to pull the connector through the handlebars and out of the gap where the grip would usually screw into the scooter.
Step Four: With more of the throttle cable accessible, the connector should be visible and surrounded by a fabric or heat-shrink. This can be removed revealing the connector.
Step Five: Please disconnect the throttle and reverse and repeat these steps with the new throttle.
