With time and use, screws can become loose and the overall feeling of your scooter may become less precise, however, there is a awfully simple solution to many of these problems, and a wobbly handlebar is certainly no exception.
What do I need to fix this?
With regards to tools, all that you should need is the 5mm hex wrench that is included with your scooter straight out of the box. A little bit of space and some patience may go far as well.
So, what is the problem?
All that really needs adjusting is a single screw. This can come loose with regular use, or maybe on a bumpy journey.
With the Decent logo facing yourself, just below the hinge which connects the stem to the main chassis of the scooter is a chrome coloured bracket. Within this bracket is a 5mm hex screw which will need to be adjusted to the correct tightness to allow for a sturdy hold. Please do not overtighten the screw as this will prevent the scooter from being folded down.
Our recommended process would be the following:
- Un-fasten the hinge clip locking the scooter stem vertically. Please do not fold the stem of the scooter down, rather, it is best to keep it vertical. Please be cautious as the stem may fall as it is now unlocked. A second individual would be very beneficial when performing this maintenance.
- Now take your 5mm hex wrench and tighten the bracket screw by a quarter of a turn. The stem can now once again be fastened to see if the wobble continues. If there is still a noticeable wobble, please repeat steps one and two until the wobble ceases.
- The handle bars should now be as sturdy as they were from the factory!
Please note: If the bracket screw is overtightened, the stem may not be securely locked in place when riding the scooter. Please do be cautious when performing maintenance on your scooter to make sure everything is as safe as it can possibly be.
